Finally, the 60,000-hour lifetime of an LED bulb exceeds that of conventional light sources by far and eliminates the need to replace fiber optic cables as well. All in all, LED illumination significantly reduces cost of ownership.

Limitations on use

The Leica M320 surgical microscope may be used in enclosed rooms and on flat surfaces with max. 0.3° unevenness; or at stable walls or ceilings that fulfill Leica Microsystems' specifications (see installation manual)

What is a focal length?

The focal length of an objective is the distance between the lens and the focus point. For microscope objectives the focal length is the working distance. E.g.: When working with an objective with a fixed focal length of 250 mm you should always maintain a working distance of 250 mm between the lens and the focus point (a tooth) in order to have a focus.

An objective with a variable focal length of 200 – 300 mm is able to focus on each point between 200 and 300 mm. The user can position his microscope at any distance between 200 - 300 mm from the patient’s mouth and the treatment site will always remain in focus.

The Leica M320 MultiFoc Objective is a must-have feature for dentists who use the microscope often and for different kinds of treatments. When the treatment site is changed frequently (e.g. During diagnostics or a caries treatment) the focus can be quickly adjusted – with only one turn of the rotary knob on the objective.

 

Special recommendations for joint practices

The Leica M320 MultiFoc Objective lens can also be used universally in joint practices with multiple microscope users: Thanks to the variable focal length of the objective, each dentist can choose his/her desired working distance and find an optimal sitting and working position.
