KaVo Online Privacy Policy

This Online Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) explains how KaVo Dental Technologies, LLC together with all of its affiliates detailed in Appendix 1 representing KaVo and referred to hereinafter as “KaVo” handle Personal Information provided to us on websites, mobile sites, mobile applications, and other digital services and products controlled by KaVo that link to this Privacy Policy (collectively, “KaVo Sites”) or otherwise provided by you to us both online (through the KaVo Sites) and offline (e.g. via the phone, conferences, and other correspondence). KaVo is the data controller for the processing of Personal Information covered by this Privacy Policy under applicable laws. The KaVo company that is
responsible for the processing of your Personal Information will be the company that you are interacting with.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to KaVo Sites that do not link to this Privacy Policy or to third-party websites to which KaVo Sites may link.

BY USING THE KAVO SITES AND ANY WEBPAGES AND CONTENT THEREIN, YOU CONSENT TO THE COLLECTION AND USE OF INFORMATION BY US IN ACCORDANCE WITH THIS PRIVACY POLICY.

Types of Information We Collect

The types of Personal Information that we may collect are described in this section and include information that you provide to us through the KaVo Sites or offline, and information that we collect automatically when you use the KaVo Sites. For more information regarding the categories of Personal Information we may collect or have collected in the past 12 months as permitted by applicable law, please see the chart
below under the section titled “How We Disclose Your Information.”

 

Definitions

For purposes of this Privacy Notice, and as defined by applicable law, “Personal Information” means information that identifies, relates to, de scribes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, to an individual.

Personal Information You Provide When Visiting KaVo Sites

KaVo collects Personal Information that you provide on KaVo Sites, for example, when purchasing a product, to receive marketing products and information, contact KaVo customer service, or respond to KaVo questionnaires or surveys. You do not have to register for a service or program to receive much of the information available through KaVo Sites. However, some of our content is available only to registered or identified users and will require you to set up a profile or provide specific information about yourself in order to provide you the service.

We may collect the following Personal Information when you provide it to us:

  • Contact information such as your name, address, phone number, or email address
  • Registration information such as your username and password
  • Remuneration information when you provide a service to KaVo in your capacity as a healthcare professional
  • Employment, education and other background information when you inquire about employment with KaVo
  • Payment information (such as banking information, payment card number, expiration date, delivery address, and billing address)
  • Content you may provide (for example, when you complete our Online Contact Form or submit other information that may personally identify you).

Personal Information You Share During Other Interactions with KaVo

You may contact KaVo to ask questions, discuss your concerns, report issues regarding our products, or for other related purposes. If you communicate with or request information from KaVo, you may be prompted to provide your contact information as well as any Personal Information that is relevant to your request.

Information That May Be Collected Automatically

When you use the KaVo Sites, we may use technologies that collect certain usage and device information automatically. We may collect, among other things, your IP address, location, device type, date and time of visit, operating system, browser type and version, activities on the KaVo Sites, and information about how you use the KaVo Sites. If you use a mobile device to access and use the KaVo Sites, we may collect the following mobile-specific information in addition to the other information described above: device or advertising ID, device type, hardware type, media access control (“MAC”) address, international mobile equipment identity (“IMEI”), the version of your mobile operating system, the platform used to access or download the KaVo Site (e.g., Apple, Google, Amazon, Windows), location information and usage information about your device and your use of the KaVo Sites. Information Collected from Other Sources

We may combine information about you from a visit to one KaVo Site with information about you from visits to other KaVo Sites. We may also combine information about you that is collected through the KaVo Sites with information that we have collected offline, as well as with information provided to us from our third-party service providers, affiliates, customers, and partners, including our marketing, conference, and advertising partners and social media networks. We may also collect information about you from publicly available sources.

How We Use Your Information

We use your Personal Information to provide you the product and services you request, communicate with you, improve your experience on the KaVo Sites, generally improve our products and services, and for other internal business purposes. These uses may also include the recording, organization, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure or destruction of Personal Information.

If you choose to purchase a product or receive our services, we use the Personal
Information that you provide to manage your orders and invoices, to process payments, to
respond to your questions, provide you the services you request and offer an optimal
customer experience.

You may also receive marketing information from KaVo and related affiliates, such as offers regarding KaVo related products or services, invitations to participate in surveys about our products, or notifications about special promotions. In such cases, we will use your contact and other Personal Information to send you marketing information.

The Personal Information that you provide may be used to create customized offers, information, or services tailored to your interests and preferences. Also, we may use your IP address and the data that we obtain automatically through the use of cookies or similar tracking technologies to make our KaVo Sites easier to use and navigate as well as to personalize the content provided on KaVo Sites by anticipating the information and services that may be of interest to you. In order to discover new facts that could help KaVo better understand customer needs and help improve, develop, and evaluate product, services, materials, and programs. KaVo analyzes the information that you have provided. For these purposes, KaVo does not use information that can directly identify you.

We may use the information that you provide and the information we collect automatically about your use of the KaVo Sites to monitor user traffic patterns and preferences for site improvement, analytics and optimization.

Third-Party Advertising and Online Behavioral Advertising

You may be provided with online advertisements of KaVo products and services on third- party websites and mobile services that are tailored to you, for example, on the basis of information that you provide to KaVo or a third-party website you are visiting, or of your browsing activity, purchases, or interests. These types of tailored online advertisements may come through several sources, such as the following:

  • We may share with our advertising service providers your non-identifying information that we have obtained from cookies and other tracking technologies on our KaVo Sites.
  • Some KaVo Sites participate in online behavioral advertising (this is also sometimes called re-target advertising or interest-based advertising). You can identify these sites by the “Advertising Choices” link in the footer. Our advertising network partners may place and use cookies on KaVo Sites and on other third-party websites to collect information about your activities in order to provide you with online advertisements that are based on your interests. When a KaVo online behavioral advertisement is delivered to you, you will see an “Ad Choices” icon. Clicking on the icon or link will take you to a website where you can manage or opt out of the use of data about your browsing history that is used for the delivery of online behavioral advertisements. If you opt out, you may still see advertisements online, including advertisements from KaVo that are based on other information (e.g., based on the content of the page being viewed rather than your prior clickstream activity). In some cases, data may still be collected about your browsing activity by these third-party advertisers, but they will not use this data to deliver advertisements that are based on your past online browsing behavior. Sale or Sharing of Personal Information

In the past twelve (12) months, we have not sold Personal Information. As noted above in the section titled “Third-Party Advertising and Online Behavioral Advertising,” we do allow some of our advertising partners to use cookies, pixels and other technologies to collect Personal Information on our Sites or services, which may constitute “Sharing” under some US privacy laws. In the past 12 months, we have Shared the following information with our advertising partners: browsing activity, purchases, interests, and device ID. To the extent you direct us to disclose Personal Information to third parties, such disclosure does not
constitute “Sharing.”

 

Affiliates, Vendors and Suppliers

We have relationships with suppliers and affiliated companies, who help us operate our business and for whom it may be necessary to have access to your Personal Information in the course of providing services to KaVo. We will not authorize these parties to use your Personal Information for any purpose that is not related to KaVo and its related affiliates business operation. We require them to handle your Personal Information collected in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

 

Co-branded Sites 

We may partner with other companies to provide you with content or services on a joint or “co-branded” basis. At a co-branded site, you will see both the KaVo logo and the logo of the co-branding partner displayed on your screen. You should read the individual privacy policies of our co-branding partners, as they may differ in some respects from ours. Reading these policies will help you to make an informed decision about whether to provide your information to a given site.

 

Product Reports

If you contact KaVo regarding your experience in using one of our products, we may use the information that you provide in submitting reports to the designated government regulatory authority, as required of us by law.

 

Legal Rights and Obligations 

In certain limited circumstances, KaVo may need to disclose your Personal Information in order to comply with a legal obligation or demand, such as to comply with reporting obligations to our governing regulatory authorities regarding the safety of our products, or in connection with the sale or transfer of one of our product lines or divisions, which includes the services provided through one or more of the KaVo Sites. In such instances, we will take measures to protect your Personal Information to the extent possible. We also reserve the right to use Personal Information to investigate and prosecute users who violate our rules or who engage in behavior that is illegal or harmful to others or to others’ property.

 

Change in Organization

In the event KaVo decides to reorganize or divest our business through sale, merger, or acquisition, KaVo may share Personal Information about you with actual or prospective purchasers. We will require any actual or prospective purchasers to treat this Personal Information in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy.

In addition to any of the practices discussed above, the below chart lists the categories of Personal Information that KaVo may collect and has collected in the past twelve (12) months and with whom KaVo discloses such information to.

Retention Period

We will retain your Personal Information for no longer than is necessary for the purpose stated in this Privacy Policy, unless extending the retention period is required or permitted by law or subject to our retention policies as may be in place from time to time. The data storage period may vary with scenario, product, and service. The standards we use to determine the retention period are as follows: the time required to retain Personal Information to fulfill business purposes, including providing products and services; maintaining business records; controlling and improving the performance and quality of the KaVo Sites; handling possible user queries or conducting assessments of user complaints; whether you agree to a longer retention period; and whether the laws, contracts, and other equivalencies have special requirements for data retention.

Children Privacy

KaVo does not knowingly collect or use any Personal Information directly from children on KaVo Sites (we define “children” as minors younger than 18). We do not knowingly allow children to order our products, to communicate with us, or to use any of our online services. If you are a parent and become aware that your child has provided us with information, please contact us using one of the methods specified below, and we will work with you to address this issue.

Your Privacy Choices

To the extent applicable by the place in which you live, you may have certain rights in relation to your Personal Information. These rights may be subject to certain exceptions, which may prevent you from exercising these rights in all situations.

  • Right to Correct Information. You may request that KaVo correct your Personal Information if it is inaccurate.
  • Right to Access Information About Automated Decision Making. You may request information about the logic involved in automated decision-making and a description of the likely outcome of processes. You are allowed to opt out of the use
    of automated decision-making in connection with your work performance, economic situation, health, personal preferences, interests, reliability, behavior, location, or movements.
  • Right to Know. In certain circumstances where we have collected or shared Personal Information about you, you may have the right to request that we disclose certain information about how we have handled your Personal Information in the prior twelve (12) months, including: the categories of Personal Information collected; categories of sources of Personal Information; business and/or commercial purposes for collecting and selling your Personal Information; the categories of third parties/with whom we have disclosed or shared your Personal Information; and the specific pieces of Personal Information collected about you.
  • Right to Delete. Where allowed by applicable law, you may request that KaVo delete Personal Information that we collected from you.
  • Data Portability. You may request that KaVo transmit your Personal Information to another entity, to the extent it is technically feasible.
  • Right to Opt Out. In certain circumstance, you may opt-out of the sharing of Personal Information as defined in this Privacy Policy and by applicable law.
  • Right to Limited Use and Disclosure of Sensitive Personal Information. In certain circumstances, and to the extent applicable by law, you limit how we use or share your sensitive Personal Information.

In the event you choose to exercise one the preceding rights in accordance with applicable privacy law, you will not be retaliated against for exercising your rights. KaVo reserves the right to deny any request where compliance is not required by applicable privacy law. In all communications to KaVo, please include your email address, the website address, mobile application, and/or the specific KaVo product to which you provided Personal Information (e.g., KaVo.com), and a detailed explanation of your request. If you would like to delete, amend, or correct your Personal Information and are contacting us by email, please put “Deletion Request” or “Amendment/Correction Request” in the subject line of the email. We will respond to all reasonable requests in a timely manner and may need to further confirm your identity in order to process certain requests.

Data Security

KaVo maintains reasonable technical, administrative and physical controls to secure any Personal Information collected through the KaVo Sites. However, there is always some risk that an unauthorized third-party could intercept an Internet transmission, or that someone will find a way to thwart our security systems. We urge you to exercise caution when transmitting Personal Information over the Internet, especially your financial-related information. KaVo cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties will not gain access to your Personal Information; therefore, when submitting Personal Information to KaVo Sites, you must weigh both the benefits and the risks.

Third Party Sites and Social Media Plug-ins

This Privacy Policy does not apply to KaVo Sites that do not link to this Privacy Policy, or to third-party websites to which KaVo Sites may link. KaVo Sites may use social media plug- ins (e.g., the Facebook “Like” button, “Share to Twitter” button) to enable you to easily share information with others. When you visit KaVo Sites, the operator of the social plug-in can place a cookie on your computer or other electronic device that enables that operator to recognize individuals who have previously visited our Site. If you are logged into the social media website (e.g., Facebook, Twitter) while browsing on our KaVo Site, the social media plug-in allows that social media website to receive information that you have visited our KaVo Site. The social media plug-in also allows the social media website to share information about your activities on our KaVo Site with other users of their social media website. These sharing settings are managed by the social media website and governed by its privacy policy.

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

Subject to any applicable consent requirements, we reserve the right to change the terms of this Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes to this Privacy Policy will be reflected on this page with a new effective date. KaVo encourages you to review this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes. Any Personal Information collected upon your continued use of KaVo Sites will be handled in accordance with the currently-posted Privacy Policy.
