KaVo Dental supports the Förderverein für intensivpflegebedürftige Kinder Ulm e.V. (Ulm Association for Children in Need of Intensive Care) with a donation of €5,000.

On Monday, January 26, 2026, Managing Director Oliver Krett presented the symbolic donation check to the association's chairwoman Mathilde Maier and Silke Bailer. The donation will go toward the purchase of a new “Baby-Muck” emergency ambulance, which is urgently needed for the transport of premature and newborn babies.

The donation was raised during the KaVo Christmas Village in December. Employees of the company organized an internal Christmas market where homemade products were donated and sold – a campaign “by employees for employees.”

KaVo Dental doubled the proceeds of around €2,500, so that a total of €5,000 could be handed over to the support association. KaVo is delighted to be able to support this important project and would like to express its sincere thanks to all employees who contributed to this donation with their commitment.

The new “Baby-Muck” is a specially equipped emergency ambulance for babies, designed for intensive care and the safe transport of premature and newborn babies. It has special suspension for gentle transport in the incubator and high-tech medical equipment, including an ultrasound machine.

The vehicle is used, among other things, when premature or sick newborns need to be transferred between hospitals – often for special treatments, examinations, or surgical procedures.

The vehicle is stationed at the Ulm rescue station and covers an area from Lake Constance to Schwäbisch Gmünd and Schwäbisch Hall to Aalen.

The German Red Cross rescue service in Ulm has been using baby emergency ambulances since 2001. The first vehicle, “Der kleine Muck” (Little Muck), was followed by two further generations of “Baby-Muck” in 2010 and 2019. These special vehicles can only be purchased with donations.

In Germany, around 40,000 children are born prematurely every year – around 6% of all births. One in fifteen people is born prematurely or sick. Thanks to medical advances, even very small premature babies now have a good chance of survival. However, the first minutes and hours after birth are crucial – and so is safe, professionally supervised transport. This is especially true for borderline cases, who are born with a gestational age of less than 28 weeks (under 1000g) or have a life-threatening illness.
