KaVo plants 750 trees for climate protection in southern Germany

Why planting trees in southern Germany, near our company headquarters, is so important to us.

For us, sustainability means taking responsibility exactly where we operate on a daily basis – in southern Germany, in the state of Baden-Württemberg, around our company headquarters in Biberach an der Riß, a region characterised by diverse nature and strong environmental traditions.

That is why we work with PLANT-MY-TREE®: the nearest available area for the trees in our environmentally friendly exchange campaign is in Waldshut-Tiengen.

In this way, we are not only actively contributing to offsetting our CO2 footprint, but also strengthening our local nature – and making climate protection tangible and accessible for us and our customers.

Each tree planted belongs to a specific customer and represents their personal contribution to a greener future.

Your tree, your contribution:

  • Each tree is personally assigned – with exact geocoordinates
  • On request, you will receive a certificate with your (practice) name
  • Planted in a local mixed forest in Waldshut-Tiengen in southern Germany
  • Guaranteed lifespan of at least 99 years
  • Sustainable CO2 binding & genuine climate protection

A beacon of hope in climate change: the red oak

The American red oak (Quercus rubra) was voted Tree of the Year 2025 in Germany.

Thanks to its high climate resilience, rapid growth and robustness against drought, the red oak is becoming increasingly important in German forestry.

It complements native oak species and contributes to a broader, risk-reducing deciduous tree population in forests.

With a potential lifespan of up to 400 years and its comparatively low susceptibility to fire, it is also frequently used in the creation of firebreaks.

The red oak also offers a special nature experience for forest visitors: its strikingly large foliage turns bright red in autumn. This impressive play of colours is known as "Indian summer".

Advantages of the red oak at a glance:

  • Climate adaptation: High tolerance to drought and heat, even on nutrient-poor soils
  • Fast growth: reaches harvest maturity in about half the time of native oaks
  • Low site requirements: Less demanding in terms of soil and light
  • Resistant: Hardly any natural pests or diseases in Europe
  • Real eye-catcher: intense red autumn foliage also makes it attractive as an ornamental tree

One tree for every replacement: KaVo plants 750 trees for climate protection in southern Germany

KaVo has made sustainability a tangible experience with a successful tree planting initiative. As part of the completed exchange campaign, the company cooperated with PLANT-MY-TREE® to plant a total of 750 trees in southern Germany for selected product purchases – as a long-term contribution to local climate and environmental protection.

Sustainability and economic added value combined

The aim of the campaign was to combine ecological responsibility with attractive exchange offers. Customers not only benefited from financial advantages when exchanging selected old products, but also actively supported the environment at the same time.
One tree was planted for every eligible order.

How the tree planting campaign worked

During the campaign period, KaVo planted one tree for each*:

  • Dental unit that was exchanged
  • 2D or 3D imaging device that was exchanged
  • With the exchange of at least 3 instruments (one tree was planted for every order of three or more instruments)

In this way, every product replacement became a measurable, sustainable contribution with a long-term impact.

Why planting trees in southern Germany, near our company headquarters, is so important to us.

* In some countries only parts of the promotion were recognized (e.g. only dental units, only instruments, only Imaging or a combination).

Sustainability you can touch

A special highlight of the initiative took place in mid-December: some KaVo colleagues accompanied the tree planting campaign live on site in Waldshut-Tiengen.

Together, they were able to experience the reforestation of a section of forest up close, planted the tree of the year 2025 – the American red oak – and thus made their commitment to sustainability personally tangible.

With its tree planting initiative, KaVo is sending a clear signal for responsible action and showing how sustainability can be effectively implemented together with customers.

Many thanks to everyone involved who helped to grow a greener future.

About PLANT-MY-TREE®

Since 2007, PLANT-MY-TREE® has been carrying out reforestation projects for CO² compensation throughout Germany. The aim is to protect the environment and climate in Germany, i.e. where our CO² emissions occur. Since 2020, PLANT-MY-TREE® has been carrying out forest conversion and forest protection projects in addition to initial reforestation, with an emphasis on high biodiversity. Regional conditions are taken into account and, where possible, mixed forests are planted.

Over decades, this creates a natural habitat for insects and animals. Sustainable tree planting, mainly on our own land, and planned project durations of at least 99 years, during which no deforestation or commercial use is to take place, underline the long-term climate protection goals of PLANT-MY-TREE®.

At the request of our project partners, we also carry out reforestation on land made available to us. With individual durations, the focus here is also on long-term CO₂ compensation. Quality, experience, satisfied cooperation partners and a good feeling are also important in the field of environmental and climate protection.

PLANT-MY-TREE® was successfully recertified by TÜV Rheinland in accordance with DIN ISO 9001:2015 at the beginning of 2023. Together with many large and small partners, PLANT-MY-TREE® contributes to environmental and climate protection under the motto "Every tree counts" and "Climate protection is fun" in order to leave a world worth living in for future generations.
