Dr Holl's dental practice is centrally located between the main railway station and the university campus in Geislingen, Baden-Württemberg. As a traditional family-run practice, the Holl family focuses on quality and sustainability in all of their decisions. The newly acquired ProXam 3DQ X-ray machine from KaVo was no different.
Our traditional dental practice does everything, and everyone is welcome. Our range of services encompasses all aspects of modern dentistry, including surgery.
I joined my parents’ practice in 2020. We work well together, so this has plenty of benefits – not least with a view to my own future.
Work at our practice is highly digitalised, from CBCT and prosthetic scanning to implant planning and printing drilling templates.
Longstanding local connections
In order to maintain our high standards of digitisation, we needed to invest in a new 3D X-ray machine. Our existing appliance, also from KaVo, was no longer cutting edge after 15 years. We also wanted to switch our software to an all-in-one solution. In spring 2023, we travelled to Biberach an der Riss, just 30 minutes away by car, to get detailed advice.
In today’s world, where so much of our lives is characterised by speed and anonymity, it’s nice to have a local partner with a similar understanding of values to our own. We came to a decision quickly, opting for a combination of ProXam 3DQ and Romexis software.
Dismantling, installation and induction with zero downtime
It took two days to dismantle the old appliance, install the ProXam 3DQ, start up the new equipment, induct employees and configure the software. This had very little impact on our regular practice operations, as we have additional IO tube units in the treatment rooms, so only panoramic imaging and CBCT were off limits on those days.
The ProXam 3DQ offers easy handling and focuses on the essentials. The user is guided through the imaging process step by step.
It’s obvious that the user interface was developed not only by engineers, but also by experts in our field. With processes and modes this clear and intuitive, you simply can’t go wrong.
The clearer the information, the more receptive the patient
Positioning the ProXam 3DQ for imaging is easy and comfortable because the imaging unit moves, not the patient. I used to have to move the patient back and forth in the unit, but now it’s the other way around. Even with small CBCT volumes, the user interface shows me everything precisely against guide lines. I wouldn’t want to be without it.
I’m constantly impressed by the image quality, especially in panoramic imaging. In addition, the Ultra Low Dose technology provides high-quality 3D volumes, while remaining fully within the 2D image range in terms of radiation protection.
We use the 2D/3D+ module for implant planning. All data is immediately available for use and I can discuss the planned procedure directly with the patient. This creates transparency and trust.
When communicating with patients, being able to explain the chosen treatment using individual patient images can be so much better than using information sheets. These images make procedures such as sinus lifts comprehensible to patients and increases acceptance.
For optimal and straightforward patient communication, we use an iPad at the treatment chair. This displays all Romexis data and functions immediately and in perfect quality.
